CityWorks Xpo workshop at Roanoke

A great experience, meeting with the aces, exploring different avenues and so much learning. It was really a great platform to explore oneself, especially a person who is searching for a research focus.

Sitting in the workshop, the words of Jane Jacob, author of the famous book “The Death and Life of Great American Cities (1961)” were echoing in my mind that planning practitioners should promote diversity in cities and be self-critical in achieving planning goals. These words which were said much earlier are so rlevant for present-day planning context as well.

Is it that important to create perfect cities or are certain imperfections actually good to witness a lively city.

It is not always big cities with big ideas instead small cities like Roanoke can also come up with good community planning.

These and a number of other thoughts were flowing and I got submerged with them.
